Tell me you want to play and I'll pick up to three of your fandoms. Then update your journal and answer the following questions:

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?
2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?
3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?
4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?
5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

[livejournal.com profile] navaan gave me Doctor Who, The Hunger Games and Jiraishin.

Doctor Who

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?

It is one of those classics I was always aware of, but never really watched. I vaguely remember watching the movie with the 8th Doctor and some 7th Doctor eps. But it was the “reboot” that really got me into it.

2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

It’s one of the series that you can always walk away from and come back to again later. Changing writer, changing actors and all make it pretty easy.

3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

I love The Girl in the Fireplace and Human Nature/The Family of Blood, but there are just too many to choose from. Also everything that has Jack in it is great by default.

4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

Not so much. Not beyond reading and commenting.

5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Yes! There are a lot of fans, of course, but it is something that I hope many, many more will discover and love!

The Hunger Games

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?

I think someone on goodreads recommended the first two books to me and I gave them a chance and loved the,. I very much emphasize with Katniss, as someone who puts family and survival first and I always like dystopias that manage to make clear that war can be both bad and necessary at times.

2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

Not sure. The movies may actually scare me away if they put too much emphasize on the love triangle.

3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

Hmm. Hard to pick one. I think Hunger Games was the one that gripped me the most.

4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

I do occasionally participate in discussions, but that’s it for the most part.

5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

I think the movies will take care of that...

Jiraishin

1. What got you into this fandom in the first place?

Hehe. A long time ago the second volume of the manga was published in German, because it was a collaboration with a German author and I completely fell in love with the hard-boiled Japanese cop with the angular face and complicated ethics. When I started to learn Japanese it was one of the first things I picked up, and although the violence, themes and even the at style are not my usual fare, it still is one of my favorite manga. I’m proud to say that today I can even read it without to many problems. :P

2. Do you think you'll stay in this fandom or eventually move on?

I don’t think I’ll ever move on, although there isn’t much of an active fandom to speak of.

3. Favorite episodes/books/movies, etc?

The volume two story line still holds a special place in my heart. And then there is, of course, death of Yamaki and the suitably creepy story about Koike Aya-chan. And the stories with Narita's daughter always break my heart.

4. Do you participate in this fandom (fanfiction, graphics, discussions)?

As far as there is a fandom, yes.

5. Do you think more people should get into this fandom?

Absolutely! But be warned: It’s not something for people who are easily squicked.
