Korra and Kenshin

I really love what I’ve seen of Legend of Korra so far. It’s great to have a slightly rebellious heroine for a change. Although she did have a sheltered life up until now and I like seeing how living and learning in the city will change her.

I’m glad that it feels so new and fresh. In my mind it was a great choice to set the story in the times of the new Avatar.

And old!Katara nearly broke my heart!

Also I’ve caught up on the first episode of the Rurouni Kenshin Shin Kyoto hen OVA and did really like it. (Although the character design kind of makes it seem like Saitô has gained weight. :P) Kenshin along with Tokyo Babylon was what brought me really into anime fandom so there is a fair bit of nostalgia involved.

The story is compressed and thus feels a little rushed at times and the first episode came with a fair bit of exposition for the viewers who needed it. (I'm not sure that people who haven't read the manga or seen the old anime could follow this without problems, though.)

The new trailer makes me impatient to finally get a look at this!

Korra is so very spunky! I love that she wants to be her own Avatar, although, of course, she’s Aang, too. :)

I’m a bit annoyed at “The Last Airbender: Legend of Korra” bit. It’s stupid how the current content industry world wide is a slave to licensing and trademark instead of creativity. It makes no sense to have a “last airbender” in the title, when this is obviously no longer true. And as Korra is very clearly her own avatar. “Avatar: The Legend of Korra” would have had a beautiful ring to it and I don’t think it would have had much impact on a certain movie franchise... *duh* But what do I know? :P
